An Architect is a professional who plans and designs the construction and architecture of buildings. They are the ones who implement their artistic imagination and creative vision. They bring the building projects to a reality be it building up new buildings or completely revamping them by renovations. It’s not easy to build up structures and plan their architecture. One needs certain credentials and qualities to be an architect along with a degree from National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). - Professional Qualifications:
The architect should have completed either bachelors or masters’ degree from a National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) University. He should have key skills like analytical, creative, organizational, good communication, technical, and visualization skills. In order to be an architect, one should have pursued Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) program, which typically takes five years to complete. Topics like architectural history and theory, building and construction, and computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) are also taught that an architect needs to know.

A sound judgment is also one of the prerequisites for an architect. High quality designing and analysis is a necessity in architecture. Also, one needs to take decisions based on the conceptual designs and their projects. So, in order to implement right decisions about structures and their designs, one ought to has a sound judgment.
- Interpersonal Skills
An architect needs to have good communication and interpersonal skills in order to convey properly his ideas and planning to the customers. Communication has the first key role in execution of an architecture project. There are many people involved in a construction project, like engineers, contractors, etc. One needs to have good communication skills to interact with the entire team.
- Clear Vision
An architect should have clarity of vision too. For a great team, the leader of the team should have a clear and sound vision about the project with confidence and strength. For the designs and illustrations to match with your future goals, clarity of vision is a requisite.
- Sketching Skills
An architect should have good sketching skills to design and sketch whatever he is planning to build. He should be able to jot down his ideas by drawing them on paper in order to convey them well to people. He should be creative and innovative, to be able to design his ideas on paper.
- Problem Solving Skills
A good architect should have apt problem solving skills as well. He should be able to find the cause of the problem, be it any structural problem in the buildings or any technical one. He should be able to catch hold of the problem along with finding its solution.
Thus, these were some of the skills, credentials and qualities required in order to qualify as a good architect. They are the prerequisites for a successful architecture project and its execution.
